Graham and Joanna Barker attended Bray Open Gardens on Sunday 1st July. This event was instigated by Graham to raise money for the Thames Hospice and St Michael’s Church Bray. 10 gardens plus the gardens of Jesus Hospital, the Lich Gate and the allotments were opened. The car parking was organised by 5 Platoon Maidenhead (Welsh Guards) – Royal County of Berkshire ACF. St John Ambulance was represented by Josephine Crabbe. Teas were served at Jesus Hospital and the Church Hall. Graham Barker is vey grateful to Chris and Jules Graham for organising the Open Gardens.
In the evening a concert was held at Bray Church entitled “Gardens in Words and Music. Performers included Michel Roux, Sarah Greene, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Carol Ellis, Dr Cecily Wright, Ben Alden (baritone), Alastair Penrose (clarinet), Roger Witney (piano), the choir of the Thames Hospice and the choir of St Michael’s Bray.
£4,000 was raised on the day to be shared between the Thames Hospice and St Michael’s Church.
