Reading Community Court presentation, Brock Barracks, 10th May 2018

11 May 2018

Graham Barker attended Brock Barracks in Reading for the presentation of certificates awarded to those who had completed their training for the Reading Community Court Awards. The Reading Community Court is a new initiative, by the Reading police force, for 14 – 25 year old volunteers who are trained to run a ‘peer court’ to decide outcomes for first time offenders who are under the age of 18 and who have committed low level crimes. On a ‘restorative justice’ basis the aim is establish what harm has been caused and how best it can be repaired. It aims to be part of the “early intervention” strategies to keep young people out of the criminal justice system.
