The High Sheriff’s Summer Reception, Monkey Island, Bray, 26th June 2018

Graham and Joanna Barker hosted the High Sheriff’s Summer Reception at the Monkey Island Estate on Tuesday 26th June 2018.

Three hundred guests attended the reception which saw the first function on the islandĀ  since it was acquired by YTL Hotels. The Stellar Big Band provided the music and glorious weather made for an enjoyable evening.

Graham spoke of his three themes for the year, Community Compassion and Culture and celebrated the importance of volunteers in the County. He highlighted the results of the National Mock Trial Competition for schools where the first three places were won by Berkshire Schools: Ranelagh, The Holt and Charters. He acclaimed the partnership between the British Museum and Reading University for the BM’s Archaeological Research Centre. He announced that, following a competition, the nominated police cadet for the High Sheriff of Berkshire is Ceara Fowkes. He cited her leadership qualities and the kindness she had displayed to others. Graham presented Ceara with a crystal paperweight.
